An eight-year-old boy has reportedly shot and killed his younger brother, leaving loved ones in a state of absolute shock and grief.
According to local media reports, the eight-year-old child took possession of his father’s long gun and aimed it directly at his 6-year-old brother’s head.
The end result was the victim dying on the spot, leaving so many stunned.
Now, cops revealed how they have arrested the boys’ father who has been identified as 29-year-old D’Onte Patterson. He is said to be facing charges for second-degree murder as well as cruelty to the kids.
Cops showed up at the residence during the later hours of Friday night, which is also when the incident had taken place.
The exact location for the tragic shooting was identified as DeKalb County which is located in Georgia, as revealed by a local media report from WAGA-TV.
“The boy accidentally shot his brother in the face. He had no idea about what he was doing, just took a random aim and pulled the trigger”- the news channel continued.
Both brothers happened to be together in the family’s upstairs bedroom and they had possession of their dad’s long gun, which they randomly got from the floor.
Investigators following the case spoke about how there were a total of seven kids and four adults living inside the home.
Hence, the fact that the dad would be so careless and leave the gun out on the ground with so many young people roaming around was beyond an irresponsible move on his part, the investigators continued.
When the shots were fired, the father and the kids’ uncle were watching television downstairs but the sound of the bullet was loud enough to resound throughout the house.
Despite the family rushing the victim to a nearby local hospital, he reportedly died upon his arrival from the fatal injuries.
