This is a heartbreaking moment a 34-year-old mother tragically died five months after she was prescribed laxatives for her agonizing symptoms.
Her grieving aunt Judith Spence, 51, is now raising funds for her niece’s funeral and claims her rectal bleeding and constipation were dismissed by doctors.
Louise Gemma Gray passed away on November 3 and leaves behind her five children only six weeks after she was told she had terminal cancer.
Judith claims her niece told her that no tests were carried out even after she told doctors about her worrying symptoms.
Despite undergoing surgery last year to have cervical cancer cells removed, Louise was prescribed laxatives for her constipation and rectal bleeding.
During her final weeks, she lost control of her bowel movements and was taken to the emergency department at North Tees Hospital where she received two blood transfusions.
It was then discovered that the 34-year-old mother had cancer of the bowel, cervix and liver.
Only six weeks after the devastating news, she passed away.
Her grieving family are now raising funds for her funeral and to pay therapy for her devastated children.
Speaking to the Mirror, Judith said: “Louise was absolutely hysterical because she didn’t know what was going on – they sent her home with no care, with nobody there for her – the first week was horrendous.
“Something needs to be done, it cant bring Louise back, but raising awareness could save someone else’s life.
“We’re feeling very angry, and frustrated. She was treated like a hypochondria.”
When Louise was diagnosed weeks before her death, she did not want to know how long she had left.
She raised her five children – Hayden, 16, Morgan, 13, Cobyjay, 5, and twins Cole and Caleb, 3 – alone.
“It’s been absolutely soul-destroying for them, the two older ones have been there and seen it all,” Judith went on.
“We have all been left totally heartbroken and traumatized by everything that has taken place and would love to give her a send-off her children will never forget to hopefully help them heal, seeing how loved their mother really was.”
