It is natural for parents to worry about their children so it is important to teach their kids valuable lessons on how to keep them safe.
But one mom who works as a motivational speaker has shared that many parents disagreed with her when she said that she taught her children to swear to keep strangers at bay.
Chauvon Landry took to TikTok and said she teaches her children a ‘survival tactic’ but added that she hopes they ‘never have to use it.’
“I taught them that if somebody tries to kidnap them or pulls them away from their family, don’t just scream,” she said in her video.
“I need them to yell out every single curse word they can possibly think of.
“Because, think about it – if you’re at a playground or something like that and you hear a child scream, that’s not really alarming to you.
“But if you hear a child yelling out every single curse word, you’re going to stop mid-conversation and say, ‘hold on’ and look to see what’s going on with this child.”
The mother, who goes under the username @thelandryfamily504 on TikTok, also said that the technique will show strangers the kid ‘doesn’t belong to this person’ and that they’re ‘calling out for help.’
While many parents disagreed, others thanked Chauvon for her tip, with one person writing: “This is good! Hopefully, like you said, they never have to use it!”
Another wrote: “Perfect tip! I’m definitely going to teach my babies this, thank you.”
A third joked: “My child would be like, ‘well it’s my time to shine’.”
Someone else added: “My child would be secretly waiting on the day to come.”
