One Afghan mother is revealing her utter heartbreak after she was forced to sell her months-old child in times of desperation.
The mother explained to media reporters how she had no choice but to sell off one of her newborn twins, just so she could gain up on some cash that would feed the other.
The Afghan mother cried while explaining how the value of human life may appear to be just $104 to some but for her, it’s a huge deal, considering she’s got an entire family to feed.
As days go by, it appears that the living conditions in the country have gone from bad to worse, with many having no choice at all but to indulge in selling babies to make a living.
The baby was bought by one childless couple for $104 which would potentially allow the poor family to purchase food supplies for the next six months.
Before the Taliban took over, the mother revealed that her husband and their son worked as laborers on the farm fields. While their income may not have been too great in amount, it was just enough to put food on the table. But after the takeover, things have worsened to new extremes, leaving many like this family jobless for days.
This tragic story was recently uncovered by Save the Children, who documented the family and their struggles involved in making a living.
The mother who is 40 years in age, reportedly gave birth to twins, one boy, and one girl, about a few months back, right after the family was forced to shift from their farmland due to a drought that had taken place.
From no food to wearing clothes donated by others, the mother hopes and prays for a better future which appears very grim for so many Afghan mothers like herself.
