The grieving mother of Lilia Valutyte who was stabbed to death says that the suspect’s family called her to offer full support.
35-year-old Lina Savicke has revealed that the alleged killer Deividas Skebas’ mother Daiva contacted them to help the devastated family through their grief.
This comes after the suspect appeared in court after the 9-year-old girl was stabbed while playing outside.
“His mother called yesterday. I heard that he comes from a very good family. She promised to take care of everything that she is able to,” Lina said.
The heartbroken mother also said that her family are now raising funds for a sculpture that they want to place near the spot where the schoolgirl was murdered.
Speaking about the call, Lina told Delfi Plus news agency: “I told her that we would collect donations for a sculpture dedicated to Lilia’s memory.”
According to reports, Lilia was playing in the street in Boston, Lincolnshire, alongside her younger sister on July 28 when she was stabbed.
22-year-old Stebas, a fruitpicker, was arrested two days later and was taken into custody at Lincoln crown court.
“On that fateful day I was giving a gift to my friend when the children were playing outside my windows,” Lina recalled.
“As I ran around the corner, I heard someone calling me, ‘Mom!’”
“I go out and see how my little girl was standing a meter away from her big sister, who just bled to death,” she added.
CCTV shows Lilia playing with her younger sister with a hula hoop before the 9-year-old was attacked at around 6:20 pm.
Police were seen running over to the girl followed by paramedics who tried to save her.
