A grieving mother died of a broken heart three days after she found her son dead in his home.
According to reports, 34-year-old Goran Ilich died on November 12 and it was his mother Elizabeth who found his body.
This comes as the death of a local firefighter in the outback town of Coober Pedy was also reported.
Paying tribute to Mr. Ilich, the local paper Coobey Pedy Regional Times said he was a ‘well-liked’ man among residents.
“Goran Ilich was popular among all age groups,” the paper read. “He had a natural charm and was well-mannered and polite.”
Only three days after his death, his mother died in what locals described as a ‘double tragedy.’
The paper continued: “In the early hours of Monday morning, a grief-stricken Elizabeth Ilich awoke with chest pains and called friends for assistance.
“An ambulance was called but Ms Ilich passed away in hospital some hours later.
“Friends have related that Ms Ilich had a heart condition and believe that the grief from her son’s death caused a heart attack.”
A loved one started a fundraiser after the loss of Goran, who was described as ‘a beautiful soul taken away too soon.’
“Everyone that interacted with Goran knew he was different, he could talk to anyone and charm them with his charisma and personality.
“Goran has left an impact on all of us in so many different ways and so many other cities.”
Friends and locals shared tributes on the fundraiser and on social media, with one person writing: “Condolences to the family. Goran will be forever missed and the world will always be less bright without him.”
Another wrote: “Our most sincere condolences. May God give you all strength.”
The local community was ‘shattered’ again when Jayden Watts, a local firefighter, died on Friday.
“What a horrible week for the community. We have lost 3 beautiful members of our town,” one local wrote.
