Alisha Pegg from the UK was just 22 weeks pregnant when she was rushed to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford after going into premature labor.

According to the young lady, she was told by the hospital to return home despite her pressing condition.

“I was doubled over in pain and being sick, and when I phoned the doctor’s they assumed I had a bladder infection,” Pegg recalled.

“I went in anyway, as I couldn’t feel Grace move. When a midwife asked what the pain felt like, the first word out of my mouth was labor. Having given birth before, I knew what it felt like and my waters were leaking.”

While the mother protested to the best of her abilities, her symptoms were allegedly dismissed and she was sent home.

“They did no dilation check, and no check to see if my waters were gone – the doctor did a bedside scan that lasted about a minute,” she added.

“I was told they could find a heartbeat but no movement, so they said she must have been asleep. I wasn’t happy and I was telling them my body felt like it needed to push, but I was told to go home.”

After being dismissed, Alisha returned home and gave birth to a baby girl named Grace, prompting her to call for an ambulance to return to the hospital.

“At around 1.20 am the pain got worse, I was being sick, sweating, the room was spinning. around 2.30 am I realized something was seriously wrong, 2.40 am I dialed 999 and 2.45 am I had given birth at home, alone,” Alisha says.

While the young woman praised the paramedics, things only got worse for her when she arrived at the hospital and the staff told her that her baby, who was admitted to the NICU, had died.

As Pegg claims, however, the baby was brought to her alive after she had already been grieving for her for 45 minutes.

“I was told that Grace didn’t make it, only for them to bring her up to me 45 minutes later, alive. But they said they could not offer any medical intervention, and she died at 6.30 am,” Alisha explained.

Following the incident, the hospital trust apologized and claimed they have changed their practices and policies to ensure such incident doesn’t happen again.

“We will continue to ensure we provide ongoing support to answer all the family’s questions.”
