A mother from Florida has been arrested by police officers after she reportedly left her infant alone at home and then returned back, firing shots at her own residence.

According to local media reports, Victoria Hidalgo allegedly fired gunshots at her house, knowing that there was an abandoned baby lying inside. But neighbors were quick to mention how they were sure that the mother had been out partying on Thanksgiving night and hence appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

Cops rushed to the scene of the crime, arresting the mother immediately, after retrieving a gun from her possession.

While it is still not clear as to why the mother would fire at her own front door, with a baby lying alone inside, cops did speak about how she didn’t appear to be in a normal mental state and hence had no idea as to what was going on.

“We rushed to the scene after neighbors complained of loud sounds. They stated that she was under the influence of alcohol too. Our officers went inside and were able to retrieve the shotgun used during the incident,” stated the Sheriff’s Office at Charlotte County.

When an unidentified witness arrived at the suspect’s apartment, it didn’t take her long to notice bullets lodged in the front door, and in the same way, she also noticed how the vehicle that the two shared was not even parked in the driveway.

And that’s when she allowed police officers to enter. She was beyond devastated to notice how there was a baby lying unsupervised inside the crib, as confirmed by authorities.

“Her eyes were bloodshot and watery and you could clearly smell her breath which was alcohol. Her speech was also slurred while she tried to give us answers to our questions,” cops revealed.
