A married woman has spoken out about her polyamorous lifestyle and claimed that having a boyfriend makes her marriage stronger.
28-year-old Alexis Watts is a married woman from Central Valley, California, who is expecting her fourth child together with her husband Christopher.
As Watts explained, she met Chris after her first marriage fell apart because “something was missing.” While the couple soon fell for each other, they decided to keep their options open by allowing each other to date other people.
Even four years after tying the knot, Alexis still has a boyfriend whom she sees on a regular basis.
According to the young lady, this only makes her marriage stronger and improves the communication between her and her husband.
“I always felt as though something was missing in my first marriage. I had more to give and I was fighting polyamory,” Watts admitted.
“I started swinging and met my husband where we spoke about polyamory and it was like magic, it just made sense. My boyfriend meets needs my husband can’t. For example, he’s a therapist so we have deeper conversations.
“In fact, we weren’t intimate for a very long time because our emotional connection was so strong.”
Defending polyamorous relationships, the mother went on to explain that having multiple partners goes far beyond the physical aspect.
Alexis also admitted that she and her husband get jealous of their partners at times but insisted this only made their relationship stronger.
“We get jealous, we’re human and it’s a natural emotion. It doesn’t have to be a bitter and defensive emotion, it’s how you deal with it that’s important,” she added.
“It’s made us grow as we learn how to communicate around it. It’s essential to identify what makes you jealous and what you need from your partner. It’s quite therapeutic.”
Not only did Alexis and Christopher accept each other’s partners but they also allowed them to become a part of their family.
“My boyfriend is involved in my kids’ lives but isn’t responsible for them, he’s more like a fun uncle. Even his wife loves my kids and helps us look after them, she’s so excited when I bring them round,” the mother-of-four says.
“I get a lot of comments and questions about the lifestyle. Some people are judgmental but it’s because they don’t understand what polyamory is.”
