One family is sharing their utter devastation and heartbreak after their child tragically passed away after taking part in a viral and deadly TikTok challenge.
According to local media reports, Nyla Anderson passed away on December 12, right after she opted to take part in the trending ‘Blackout Challenge,’ as revealed by her grieving family.
The horrifying online dare has been linked to a number of deaths of children in the country, sparking fear and concern amongst authorities.
For those who may not be aware, the shocking online dare asks young participants to hold their breath until they pass out.
Now, the victim’s mother is warning other parents to please keep an eye on their children at all times and also to check their phones as the matter is serious.
“Please make sure you check their phones for the deadly trend,” explained Nyla’s mother named Tawainna. You would never imagine that a 10-year-old would try this but they are children at the end of the day and they do not know better,” she added in a concerned tone.
The deadly trend on TikTok is renowned by a number of different names. And that includes ‘the fainting game,’ ‘speed dreaming,’ and also as ‘the game of choking’ too.
Meanwhile, some reports have even gone as far as speaking about how this probable choking game originally began between the years 1995 to 2007, as reported in a study published by the CDC in the year 2008.
Little Nyla’s family rushed her to the nearest hospital after discovering her unconscious status. However, despite their efforts, doctors were just unable to save the young girl as it was too late.
A social worker has gone on to reveal how Nyla was in her own bedroom at the time of the incident with her family being at home too. But little did they know about the horrifying tragedy that awaited them regarding their precious loved one.
