A woman has opened up about her troublesome experience after her husband asked her if he could sleep with her sister.
As an anonymous 34-year-old lady revealed in her post on the ‘True Off My Chest’ forums on Reddit, she and her husband had been trying for a baby to no avail.
Determined to start a family after discovering that she was suffering from fertility issues, the woman and her husband went on to consider IVF as an alternative to the traditional way of conception.
While the woman’s sister quickly showed her support for the couple by offering to be the surrogate mother, fresh problems arose after the pair discovered just how expensive IVF is.
That’s when the 34-year-old’s husband made a disturbing proposition that shocked the lady in question to her core.
As the tone-deaf man suggested, they could avoid all of the costs if he simply slept with her sister and conceive a baby the traditional way.
“My husband and I have been struggling with infertility. We’ve tried some options and right now we’re looking into surrogacy,” the woman wrote.
“My sister agreed to do it, but my husband said he looked at how much time and money IVF would take and slowly started hinting that we take the traditional way.
“I was too shocked to even say anything, but he acted like what he said was not even that big of a deal. He explained that it’s just a quick way for us to have a baby and spare the money and time to use later.
“I’m 100 per cent against it, that is why I’m backing down and am no longer comfortable with this whole surrogacy route. I can’t even imagine my sister’s reaction once she hears my husband’s suggestion.”
To make matters worse, the man went on to accuse his wife of being “selfish” for not letting him sleep with her sister and blame her for not giving him a child.
“I’m both devastated over the fact that he’d even entertain having sex with my sister just because he wants the easy way and if I ever agree despite feeling uncomfortable then I will always carry this memory of how the baby is conceived,” she added.
“I refused and shut his suggestion down hard. He’s now started guilting me saying I don’t trust him then saying I’m selfish for choosing to back out when he still wants to be a dad like he expected when he married me. Basically blaming me for my infertility issues.
“I feel so devasted and like my body is useless and has failed me to the point where I could expect any negative comment on it whether true on not. Emotionally and mentally … I just can’t express how I feel right now.”
After her post went viral, the 34-year-old quickly received lots of support online with viewers branding her husband as creepy.
“Okay this is so wrong. Even if this was a cheaper and more realistic option, you could do your own insemination with a syringe or baster. With you present and no actual physical s*x,” someone wrote.
“Honestly, sounds like your husband just wants to cheat on you? I’d have a serious talk and seriously consider if you even want a baby at this point. You both need to be on the same page.”
