The grieving family of 12-year-old Ava White has spoken out since her tragic death.
According to reports, the young girl was with her friends when she was brutally stabbed in the neck on November 25.
Police said they believe a ‘verbal argument’ had occurred which led to Ava suffering ‘catastrophic injuries,’ according to Liverpool Echo.
More than a week since Ava’s violent death, his grieving father Robert Martin has spoken out about the incident.
“We would like to say thank you to everybody for their ongoing support during this devastating time,” he expressed.
“Thank you to every one of you for your kind messages and donations.
“As Ava’s family we are completely devastated and heartbroken by what has happened and we ask that you respect our privacy at this time and allow us to grieve as a family.”
Ava was described as ‘hugely’ popular and ‘unique.’ She was a Year 8 student at Notre Dame Catholic College.
Balloons, teddy bears, pictures and flowers continue to be laid in Church Street to pay tribute to the 12-year-old.
A school tie was also left at the site with a message that reads ‘fly high.’ Next to it was a candle with a note: “to Ava you will forever be missed. Miss you so much love Lillie.”
Another candle has a message that read: “To Ava you will be missed. Can’t believe you have gone, love Eva.”
A 14-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons appeared in Liverpool Crown Court on November 29. He will appear in court on February 18 next year for a plea and trial preparation.
The teen was refused bail and placed in secure accommodation until his next court appearance.
