A 4-year-old girl has become an internet sensation after she was caught on camera flipping off her dad when he told her to ‘harden up’.
When her dad, Ilai Matangi, told her to ‘harden up,’ the sassy girl who was crying quickly replied: “Harden up? Shuddup!”
With a hard face, she showed him her middle finger and went back to crying, to which everyone responded with laughter.
The viral video has received over four million likes on TikTok, with Ilai feeling proud of his four-year-old girl for managing to stick up for herself.
“We just finished lunch and we were down at the rugby field just letting the kids kick the footy around and get some fresh air,” the dad said.
“Nia was playing rugby with her older sisters and she had sneakingly tackled her older sister. Her sister retaliated, hence why she was crying.”
While some viewers slammed his parenting style, Ilai simply shrugged it off and said: “I replied back to some of the criticism on the comment section mainly with sarcasm, but really, I have nothing to say to them.
“Yes my daughter is too young to be poking up her finger like that, but in the context of that situation, we had to laugh about it.
“The conversation about that behavior being unacceptable is for another time and to be quite frank, I deserved it.”
Ilai also said that many people are concerned as her daughter shouldn’t be doing that. He said that he agreed but “it goes back down to context and situational.”
He explained that he doesn’t consider himself a strict parent but they have values they teach to their children.
“My wife is the stricter parent compared to me,” he added.
