A couple has revealed why they sleep in separate beds and that they prefer it that way.
Alexander Meyer, 38, and his wife Luana Ribeira, 41, have slept in separate bedrooms to keep their ‘happy’ relationship.
“We love being in the same house but don’t feel the need to be in each other’s space 24/7. We appreciate each other more and the time we do spend together is real, quality time,” the mother-of-two told Vitabiotics.
“We were never interested in sharing a bedroom. I shared a bedroom with partners in my previous relationships and my sleep was negatively impacted,” Luana continued.
“So, as soon as we got together, we never tried to share a bedroom as we both knew we valued our own space and wanted separate bedrooms.”
Sleeping in separate bedrooms also helped them when it comes to taking turns caring for their toddler, Celyn, letting both of them get enough rest.
“Celyn still wakes up at night and so it stands if I’m exhausted. I can ask Alex to take him overnight.”
Luana also said that sleeping in separate bedrooms has saved their relationship.
“Neither of us are great sleepers and so if one of us doesn’t get a great night’s sleep, we can’t blame the others snoring or shuffling around,” she said.
The mother also explained that sleeping in different bedrooms has not affected their intimacy but even increased the ‘spark’ between them.
“You come to appreciate those little moments much more – bumping into each other in the dead of night when both working on our respective projects – it all becomes a lot more precious,” she added.
