A groom from Nebraska has tragically died only ‘an hour’ after he said ‘I do’ to his bride.
Friends and family of Toraze Davis and his wife Johnnie Mae Davis gathered to celebrate their love but shorty after they exchanged their vows, the groom suddenly collapsed.
The bride’s supervisor, Monica Miller, told NBC News that “the happiest day of their lives turned into a day of tragedy.”
Jewel Roberson, a friend of the bride, told KETV in Omaha: “In a second. It happened within seconds. She’s been widowed and married in a 10-minute span.”
Loved ones are now rallying around the heartbroken bride and set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs and also for the couple’s children.
The fundraiser’s description read: “Johnnie Mae unexpectedly lost her husband yesterday on their wedding day… Unfortunately, Toraze gave his last breath shortly after saying ‘I Do’.”
“All our hearts are aching for Mrs. Davis and her children,” it added.
“We are asking that you donate towards the burial expenses for Toraze and money to help the new bride with their children.”
One person commented: “I was so heartbroken reading about this and I cannot imagine how hard this must be. My deepest condolences from Chicago, IL. Keeping all the family and friends in my prayers.”
Another wrote: “God Bless this family through this time. Praying for God’s Angels to come and comfort the family with warmth, love and sweet memories.”
A third said: “In memory of my Brother Barry, who also died suddenly. I pray for you for peace and understanding. Truly time is the only way forward.”
