The 6-year-old boy who was struck by a lightning while he and his father were holding hands has died.
Grayson Boggs from Texas has passed away one month after he and his father Matthew were struck by lightning while walking to their home.
According to reports, a bolt of lightning hit the father but it traveled to his son as they were holding hands after they got off a bus.
Matthew died instantly while Grayson was found ‘unresponsive but breathing.’
Speaking to KWTX, Matthew’s grieving mother Angela Boggs revealed that during the father and son’s final conversation, the dad said: “I love you, buddy.”
“He just got done telling Grayson,” Angela expressed. “That’s when the lightning came down.”
The 6-year-old was rushed to Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Medical Center where he fought for his life for a month.
Stephanie Burris, who set up a GoFundMe page for the family, wrote: “He (Grayson) is currently on a vent and is having seizures. The doctors have told us that because he was hit by lightning, their main concerns are his heart, lungs, and kidney damage.”
In a new post on the page, she revealed that the damage Grayson had sustained was so severe that he was put on comfort care as he died.
“Grayson is surrounded by the people that he loves the most and is comfortable. Please pray for peace, comfort, and acceptance for the family, and please pray that Grayson goes quickly and that his suffering can finally be put at ease.”
In a heartbreaking post, Stephanie wrote: “Grayson went to be with our Lord and his father at 5:05 am today. Please pray for the family at this time. Fly high, sweet boy.”
