A 5-year-old boy was left unable to smile after their family dog attacked him and ripped his cheek off.

Brandley Manion was watching a Disney movie in his bedroom when their Mountain Cur English pointer cross named Marley savagely attacked him.

His mom, Amanda, said she was in the living room with her fiancé when they suddenly heard her son’s screams.

The couple ran to the bedroom and found Marley on top of the little boy.

According to reports, the family has had the dog since she was only two months old and said she was the ‘most protective’ and ‘sweetest’ part of the family.

However, they suspected that the dog attacked Brantley when the young boy tried to pet her while she was eating.

Marley has since been put down.

The 5-year-old, who insisted that their dog ‘didn’t mean it,’ has been left unable to smile because of torn ligaments that have resulted in facial paralysis.

Photos show Brantley with deep cuts to his right cheek and his mom said that his teeth were visible through the skin.

“We’d just sat down and put our show on when we heard screaming,” Amanda from Missouri shared. “We ran in there and we had to take Marley off of him. She wouldn’t stop, it was really vicious.

“She was on top of Brantley and we couldn’t see him. Christopher pulled her off and Brantley was laying there holding his face together. She had sliced his face, it was a crazy night.”

The mom said that their dog never hurt anyone before the incident.

“Marley was the sweetest and so protective so I have no idea what happened, she’d never even growled at anyone,” she continued.

“The only thing we can think of is that she was eating a steak at the time.”

Even though Brantley doesn’t blame their pooch, the family made the decision to put their dog down.
