A mother who reportedly took cocaine after giving birth has been accused of squashing her baby girl to death in her hospital bed.
The accused was identified as a 32-year-old mother named Aimee Jones who denies any wrongdoing and instead was bold enough to state how taking drugs was a method to keep her alert and awake and that’s why she indulged in the drug in the first place.
Little Keira-Mae Jones was born in May 2020 but little did anyone know that she would only be able to survive for two days after coming out from her mother’s womb.
The baby was born healthy and weighed 5lbs and 5oz but within a span of two days, she died thanks to her mother’s horrifying actions.
The child was found in a face-down position on her mom’s hospital bed in the hospital’s neonatal ward in Barnsley.
At first, the mother reportedly denied that she took any drugs, hours after she had delivered her precious child. But she did go on to state how someone on the drug could actually care for a baby since it makes them more alert.
That statement clearly shocked many but little did anyone know about the consequences of her poor decisions that took away little Keira’s life in an instant.
Now, a coroner’s office is requesting the court to rethink their decision relating to the tragic case where the baby’s death was declared unlawful and the mother was not charged. But with this recent new twist, many claim that the mother could actually face charges relating to manslaughter for the terrible and tragic act.
Despite a number of desperate attempts being made by the hospital’s emergency staff in retrieving the baby and putting her on immediate life support, she passed away from the severity of the brain damage that took place.
The mother’s blood and urine tests confirmed the presence of cocaine in her system, as stated by local media reports.
