After a long day of searching for the poor baby girl, divers were able to recover the body of a missing two-year-old girl from the river downstream in White River near Columbus, Indiana from where her father was found alive inside his submerged truck.
The body of poor baby Emma was discovered around two-and-a-half miles from where her father was Found on Friday.
On Thanksgiving Day, Jeremy and Emma were reported missing. Duck hunters alerted the police after spotting Sweet’s truck submerged in the east fork of the White River in Bartholomew Country on Friday morning.
Jeremy who bailed out from weapon charges has been released in hospital and is now being held in the Bartholomew Country Jail on a 72-hours hold which started at 12:02 am on Monday, November 29, 2021.
He was miraculously found alive but her daughter was nowhere to be found. While Jeremy was taken to the hospital after the sad accident to be treated for hypothermia the search on poor baby Emma Sweet was continued.
When the authorities are searching the truck of Jeremy, the police also found a needle and drug paraphernalia. At the time Jeremy was reportedly out on bond for “possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon as well as possession of methamphetamine”.
In the interview with Sheriff Myers, he said that Jeremy had changed his story several times regarding what happened, first claiming that Emma wasn’t with him when he crashed into the water.
Myers says: “When we first ask him yesterday morning it was that he had dropped Emma off [before crashing]. Right after that, he says she was on the hood of the car of his vehicle, her coat was wet so he took the coat off and that’s where she got swept away.”
On Sunday afternoon, after searching the area, authorities finally found Emma’s body about two and a half miles downstream from where Sweet’s truck was found.
The circumstances surrounding Emma’s death and why Jeremy drove into the river are unclear and still under investigation.
