Heartbreaking reports coming in from Arkansas have gone on to reveal how a father may have accidentally killed his newborn.
According to local media reports, 26-year-old Charles Dugan is being accused by his own wife of beating his infant to death, in a tragic event that took place on the 29th of August this year.
The wife of the man who has been charged for murdering the young child spoke to cops about how he may have been sleepwalking when his 4-week old child died.
The accused who hails from Fayetteville is also accused of beating his child to death.
Initially, the father spoke to authorities and detectives, explaining how he choked the newborn girl on milk but now, he appears to have changed his statement into something that is totally opposite.
Now, the father says that the child fell and slammed her head against the ground while he was sleeping.
Meanwhile, the girl’s mom has since then spoken to officials earlier this month, adding how her husband named Dugan suffered from several episodes of sleepwalking.
He even tried to body slam her once while she was fast asleep.
But the child’s father claims that he does not remember if he was sleepwalking or not while his baby got injured.
Then, he was arrested on Thursday in relation to an unrelated charge of the alleged battery at the local hospital where the child was brought.
Therefore, the father was reportedly questioned again regarding what really went on that evening when the newborn infant died and that’s when he reinstated the fact that he did not remember. Hence, this clearly contradicted his earlier statements, as reported by 5 News.
At the start of the initial investigation, the young child’s mother said she left Dugan to look after the baby, just like she did on a regular basis, whenever she went to work.
After leaving the house at 5:15 pm, she didn’t return until it was 9 pm and that’s when her husband contacted her.
The father said he put the baby in the crib, wrapped her in a blanket, gave her a milk bottle, and put another blanket. And when he came back, he said the baby was choking and there was milk coming out of her nose.
