A Florida resident was arrested and had to spend a day in jail because she refused to leave her daughter’s side in a hospital after the ending of visiting hours.
A 70-year-old woman, Lynn Savage was staying in the hospital with her daughter, who was recovering from brain surgery.
According to the policies of UF Health North located in Jacksonville, during the COVID 19, the visiting hours end at 7 pm.
A nurse asked the woman to leave at 7 pm, but she refused blatantly and asked to call the doctor immediately. After a few minutes, the nurse, instead of calling the doctor, called the security who took Lynn outside the hospital using handcuffs and made her stay in the jail for one day.
After leaving the prison, the woman told a reporter that she had no issues with this treatment because she was not going to leave her daughter’s side no matter what.
The hospital authorities had to take this decision because Lynn was so adamant and not willing to follow the hospital’s policies. According to a source, these policies are made to ensure patients’ safety and health.
If a child undergoes brain surgery, then this is undoubtedly a difficult time for the mother. Usually, parents react the same way as nobody wants to leave their children’s side in this state. The patient freaked out too a day before the incident. It made the doctors ask her mother to come inside the intensive care unit to calm her down a bit.
