The distraught daughter of the murdered retired colonel has opened up about her grief following her father’s brutal death.
66-year-old Penelope Jackson is a retired British accountant who stabbed her husband, a 78-year-old retired colonel, to death and insisted she had done so after suffering years of abuse at his hands.
Penny insisted her husband was controlling and violent and said she only took matters into her own hands after he became increasingly abusive towards her during the lockdown.
After stabbing the man on her birthday, Penelope called the emergency services only to tell them that her husband was “in the kitchen bleeding to death with any luck.”
She allegedly also refused to follow the operator’s directions to help the man and said she “thought I’d got him in the heart but he hasn’t got one.”
At the crime scene, the senior also penned a note in which she explained her reasons for stabbing her husband.
“To whom it may concern, I have taken so much abuse over the years. Look at my records in Germany, but he was a good daddy. However, the mask slipped tonight and that was unforgivable. I accept my punishment. May he rot in hell,” she wrote.
Following her arrest, Penelope pleaded guilty to manslaughter but denied murder charges saying she didn’t want to kill her husband and insisting that she only carried a knife with her in case he would become abusive towards her again.
Now, the woman’s heartbroken pregnant daughter has spoken out about her grief as she said she had lost both of her parents in the attack.
“I always felt supported, loved and cared for by my parents. I was their baby. They were proud of me,” the couple’s daughter, Isabelle Potterton, expressed as she said her mom was no longer the person she knew.
“I have dealt with the looks of pity and people contacting for the gossip. I have dealt with people asking the most inappropriate questions. I have done all of this because I have had to. I have to be strong for dad. I have to be strong for mum.
“I have lost the man that I looked up to and loved. I have lost the man that was always there for me no matter what. The man that came and fixed things in my house which I didn’t know even needed fixing. The man that could make me laugh.”
She added: “But I feel I have also lost my mum. I have lost the woman who always knew how to make me feel better. The woman who was my friend, my champion and my support. The woman who cared, cherished and loved me.
“Yes, I know mum is here but she’s not the same person I knew. I don’t know what the future holds but I do know that the relationship I once cherished can never be built back to what it was.”
Despite everything that went down between her parents, Isabelle insists that she still loves her mom and dad and that she always will.
