In Russia, a father allegedly forced his best friend to dig his own grave before stabbing him to death after finding out that he abused his daughter.
Vyacheslav M, 34, a rocket engine factory worker, was taken into custody after the body of Oleg Sviridov, 32, was found in woodland near the village of Vintai in Samara on Thursday, September 2.
Local reports say the two men were drinking together after work and eventually fell asleep before Vyacheslav woke up and began scrolling through Oleg’s phone.
Sources said that the disturbing footage shows the child screaming “I want to go home”.
The father apparently burst into anger after finding a graphic mobile phone video of his best pal Oleg making her daughter perform sex acts.
The father immediately confronted Oleg and he reportedly attacked his friend after seeing the video of him abusing his daughter. But his pal managed to run away.
Oleg was a long-time friend of Vyacheslav and was godfather to the little girl, now nine, and had to look after her on his own multiple times.
Videos of him abusing other young victims were also said to be found on the phone, with one of them reportedly identified as the daughter of his former live-in partner.
Parents discovered that Oleg had also abused two other girls in the village, aged five and eight, in southern Russia’s Samara region.
Vyacheslav reported the abuse to local police who launched a manhunt for Oleg. But Vyacheslav launched his own search and gave his friend an ultimatum. Either hand himself to the police by 8 pm or take his own life.
He went to confront him the next day along with his wife and the mother of another victim. The furious dad managed to track down the pedophile before the police and stabbed him to death.
Vyacheslav later told police that Oleg had “stumbled on the knife during a quarrel” in a forest near the village, claiming that he had not intentionally murdered him with the blade.
The body of the alleged pedophile was found near the village on Thursday, more than a week after Vyacheslav had seen the abusive video.
Vyacheslav apparently told friends he made Oleg dig his own grave as a way of scaring him, but then told his wife that his friend tried to stab him, forcing him to fight back with a shovel.
After burying the body, Vyascheslav took the phone to the police but waited some weeks before confessing to the fight and telling them where the grave was.
Vyacheslav had been arrested as he admits a knife fight did take place at the makeshift forest grave.
Criminal investigations have also been launched into the clips filmed on the victim’s phone. They are said to include sex attacks on other young girls dating back five years.
Vyacheslav has been barred by authorities from talking about the case, but his wife told The Sun: “I wanted to hear remorse from Oleg but he said only: “I don’t know how I did it.”
“He himself understood that he either had to take his own life – or go to the police,” she continued. “He said, let me say goodbye to my mother for a few hours – then I’m all yours.”
Vyacheslav’s wife says that when she came home from work on August 25, she found the two pals fighting in the bathroom before the beaten and bruised Oleg fled the house.
“(He) was hysterical, shell-shocked,” she said. “I had never seen him like that. It took him a long time to come to his senses to explain to me. With his trembling hands, he took out Oleg’s phone and showed me a video.”
“You cannot imagine what I experienced when I saw it. I felt sick, I was dizzy and nauseous. I shook all over,” she added. “I could not believe my eyes that it was our child in the video.”
“Then my husband started crying,” she added. “He kept repeating, he is my best friend, I trusted him with our children, I trusted him as myself.”
“He could not believe in a million years that Oleg could do that,” she said.
Oleg’s mother said her son had often been a babysitter for Vyacheslav’s children.
The two men had been long-time friends, she said: “I don’t know how it got to this.”
“He must have been drunk,” the mother said. “Most likely he was drunk. They left their children with him all the time. When he has baby-sat these girls, he came back home as normal, in a good mood.”
Villagers are backing him for “saving our children by ridding us of a child sex attacker”, and have crowdfunded cash for a lawyer. Some 2500 locals signed a petition supporting him.
Villagers in Vintai and online commenters alike have demanded that Vyacheslav should not face a murder charge.
Locals have dubbed the father a hero as they contributed to a fundraiser to help get him legal aid.
His father said: “It was not friends or relatives who helped, but strangers from the village.”
As authorities claim, the father will still face a term of imprisonment, other locals told the outlet: “He is not a murderer – he protected his daughter and our children too. Everyone is on his side.”
Following a mass outcry from locals, Vyacheslav was released and placed under house arrest pending a murder investigation, facing up to 15 years in jail if found guilty.
