A passenger reportedly created a chaos at Dallas airport after physically assaulting an employee belonging to Southwest Airlines.
The horrifying incident took place while passengers were boarding the plane in Dallas that was scheduled to leave for LaGuardia Airport on Saturday afternoon, explained reports.
The worker for the airline was reportedly hospitalized due to the injuries he suffered as a result of the violent behavior, explained sources.
Meanwhile, Police immediately intervened and arrested the violent passenger at Dallas’ Love Field Airport, as cited by officials stationed there.
While the identity of the passenger remains unknown, many witnesses claim that it all began with a verbal altercation involving one of the crew’s flight attendants. The incident took place in the back of the airline, and that’s when the passenger went about confronting the employee at the plane’s front who tried to get involved and see what the matter was all about.
He reportedly punched the woman in the head, explained the police. However, it is yet to be revealed as to what possibly led to the chaos in the first place.
Southwest Airlines released a public statement after the tragic incident unfolded. “Southwest Airlines maintains a zero-tolerance policy for any type of harassment and assault. Similarly, it offers full support to our employees as we cooperate with local authorities regarding this highly unprecedented and unacceptable incident.”
As of this year, a number of airlines have experienced a rapid surge in incidents that involve violence and unruly passengers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, sources claim that these statistics have been verified by the Federal Aviation Administration.
As of now, investigations into the deeply concerning matter continue with many eager passengers waiting for more details about the case to unfold.
