Laura Smith is going viral after claiming her breast milk prevents her kids from catching the flu.
The Michigan based mother vows to continue feeding her two kids with her own natural milk. And that’s because she says it has special immune-boosting powers.
At the same time, Laura explains how she adores breastfeeding son Joel who is 5 years old, and little Bennett who is just two. Moreover, the mother is adamant about continuing with her natural goodness as she feels the benefits are great. And if that means feeding till they’re 8, then so be it.
While science proves mother’s feed contains great nutrients that are essential for young infants, Laura just might be crossing the age limit here.
We’ve gathered the latest updates on the case, just for you.
Mother of two may have found the remedy for flu- breast milk
Laura Smith is a mum who nurses both of her sons. Aged 5 and 2, Laura is proud of their ‘extremely good health.’And if you’re wondering what the real secret is, well it’s breast milk of course.
At 25, Laura is proud of her breastfeeding activities. She claims that feeding them naturally, 2 to 3 times a day, is enough to keep them healthy and happy. While she ensures they receive solid foods too, there is certainly no exception on breast milk, what so ever.
Thanks to the vitality and goodness in her milk, Laura says that her kids are going strong. They have never gotten the flu or needed any form of medication.
Criticism across the board doesn’t affect Laura
While there are plenty of critics around town, Laura says that she doesn’t let any of it affect her. Whether it’s her own family members and friends or even strangers, it simply makes no difference to her.
It seems Laura is on a determined mission to end the stigma surrounding breastfeeding older infants. Again, Laura vows to continue feeding her kids, till they attain the age of 8 years.
“The immune system boosting effects are just too good to miss out on. My kids never had the flu nor any sort of infection,” says Laura. “People need to realize how many vitamins breast milk contains. It’s literally full of nutrients.”
Laura says that if she had to choose a cut-off point to stop feeding her children, it might be 8. However, if they wanted to continue with her milk, she would never say no. Instead, she would be more than happy to provide.

Laura welcomed her first son in 2015 with husband Zane. And ever since then, she explains how doctors recommend that she quit giving her feed by 6 months. However, when her son reached 6 months, she knew she couldn’t quit. And that’s when she vowed to move ahead with breastfeeding for as long as it takes.
In addition, Laura says that her mum fed her and her siblings till they were 4 or 5 years old. Hence, she believes extended breastfeeding runs in the family. “While I started giving my son pureed forms of sweet potato, I continued to feed him breast milk on the side, 6 times a day.
“I never had any problem with my supply of milk. For this reason, I continued feeding him,” she says.
While she’s on the run or at the zoo, she makes it a point to feed her child, at any point in time. Moreover, Laura says she feels no hesitation whatsoever. For Laura, her husband’s support, as well as family, is more than enough to get her past harsh critics.
