History seems brimmed with the stories of cruel tyrants and despots who have used all the horrible methods of torture.
But the previous tales of cruelty seemed mild when Greece tyrants used to abuse using a beautiful yet horrendous brazen bull.
Invention And History of Grisly Bronze Bull
In between 554 to 570 BC, a tyrant named Phalaris ruled cruelly over the seaside colony of Acragas in ancient Greece.
One day Perillos of Athens made a replica of a bull using shiny bronze. The brazen bull was used for torturing by the tyrants and the statue of this Bronze bull was a secret murderer machine in reality. And known to be a symbol of Phalaris’s cruelty.
Internal Structure of Brazen Bull
As the name suggests, the bull is a sculpture of a male cow made with brass. From the outer side, it looked like a simple and beautiful bull but from inside it was to kill the victim horribly. From the inner side, the bull had pipes and whistles fixed in it with a hollow cavity.
There was a side door through which they pushed the victim in the hollow structure of the bull. The whole apparatus looked like a real bull, moreover, specific tools were there to convert the screams into the sound of the bull. And the statue had set with a blazing fire underneath.
Horrible Process Inside the Bull
When the blazing fire started burning then they would throw the victim into the bull. Then the body of the victim would be roasted by the heat that is present inside the body of the bronze statue. So in this worst way, he will be tortured alive.
This murderer bull will now act as the melodic machine with fixed pipes and whistles inside. They will convert the screams of the unfortunate victim into growls of the bull and the smoke will escape from the noise of the bull.
When the body became burnt, the remaining part was of bones. These bones were to use by making different kinds of bracelets. Phalaris used to wear those bone-made bracelets. These all are the facts about the brazen bull showing how horrible this sculpture bull was!
Perillos-Viction of His Own Creation
The bronze bull was the creation of Perillos. Later the creator became the victim of his creation. It happened when Phalaris wanted to test this melodic machine. He lit the blazing fire and pushed Perillos in that brazen bull for his abhorrent invention.
But he freed him before he died. But this freedom was just from the body of the bull and then he killed him by throwing him down from a hill. In this way, he killed the inventor of this murderer machine.
These teenage maniacs murdered so many animals and humans with their hammer
Death of Phalaris in the Same Machine
Phalaris led many people to death by throwing them in the murderer machine which was cruel but people killed Phalaris by throwing him in the same bull. As Telemachus killed him and his death occurred in the same bronze sculpture in which he brutally killed many unfortunate people.
Time Duration To Die In The Sicilian Bull
According to an estimate, a person can die in almost twenty minutes in this statue of a bull. Two factors can lead a person to death in this machine because the heated body of the bull is the first main reason. This can lead a person to death.
The second one is the shortage of oxygen and the above two are the primary causes.
Roman Oppression of Christians
Romans reported that they have used this machine to kill many Christians. They roasted Christians in the bull including Saint Eustace and his family, Saint Antipas, and many others. Since it is claimed that this murderer brazen bull was still used many times and many other Christians were killed brutally.
