A young woman was found stuffed in a small suitcase at the side of a road after she was kidnapped by her vicious ex-boyfriend.
25-year-old Javier Da Silva Rojas is an illegal immigrant from Venezuela who was sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to the fatal abduction of his ex-girlfriend, 24-year-old Valerie Reyes.
According to the reports, Rojas, who was illegally staying in Queens, NYC, after his visa expired, kidnapped Reyes back in January 2019 after sneaking into her New Rochelle house.
Following a physical brawl, during which the woman suffered bruises to the face and head trauma, Reyes bounded her hands with tape before stuffing her inside a small suitcase.
The bitter ex-boyfriend then drove the young lady to a wooden region in Greenwich, Connecticut, some ten miles away from her New York home.
There, Rojas dumped the suitcase containing Reyes at the side of a dirt road, leaving the 24-year-old to suffocate to death.
Following the girl’s death, investigators discovered she had died of homicidal asphyxiation, whereas Rojas’s DNA was found under the struggling victim’s fingernails.
Investigators also discovered that the illegal immigrant had emptied his ex-girlfriend’s bank account and stole her gadgets, including a laptop and an iPhone, prosecutors claimed.
“In the days after, [Rojas] used her ATM card to empty her bank account and then attempted to cover up the evidence of his conduct,” Manhattan US Attorney Audrey Strauss explained.
“The victim of this crime was in the prime of her life when it was senselessly ended by Rojas’ abhorrent act.”
Rojas has since pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 30 years in prison and two years of supervised release. After serving the time, Rojas is expected to be deported from the country.
“No words can express how repulsed I am by the acts I committed. I will never forgive myself for that. I cannot ask [Reyes’s family] to forgive me because I don’t deserve it. I would like them to know I’m very sorry,” the man said as he apologized to his ex-girlfriend’s family.
Meanwhile, Reyes’s heartbroken mom insisted that her daughter’s killer deserves nothing but pain.
“You, Javier, deserve nothing but pain and rejection. I want you to hear the words of a mother who you devastated by taking away my baby girl,” she said.
