The 14-year-old boy who stabbed young Ava White and inflicted horrific injuries has now been charged in accordance with his crimes.
On Thursday, 12-year-old Ava White was critically stabbed after getting into a “verbal argument” with a group of teenage boys aged 13 to 15 in Liverpool.
During the confrontation, which took place just after Christmas lights were turned on in the city center, a 14-year-old boy allegedly pulled out his knife and stabbed the young girl.
Following the attack, Ava succumbed to her “catastrophic injuries” and the police arrested the four boys she was seen arguing with.
While three of the teens have been conditionally bailed, the 14-year-old attacked, who hasn’t been named for legal reasons, remains in custody.
It has now been revealed that the attacked has been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.
“We’re continuing to support Ava’s family and they have requested that their privacy continues to be respected at this difficult time,” Detective Superintendent Sue Coombs said in an update.
“It’s also vitally important as we continue the investigation that nobody posts comments or names on social media which could potentially impact upon us getting justice for Ava’s family.
“Please trust us that we are doing all we can to investigate and update people on this tragic incident, and we do not want anything to jeopardize this.”
Following the brutal stabbing and Ava’s premature death, the girl’s headteacher, Peter Duffy, dubbed the 12-year-old an “incredibly popular girl” who had fantastic friends.
“She was an incredibly popular girl, with a fantastic group of friends,” he said.
“Our deepest thoughts and prayers go out to Ava’s family and friends and all those affected by this utterly tragic event.”
