A young boy tragically died after being run over by a tractor while he was playing outside his home.
3-year-old Ianto Jenkins died at the scene due to the ‘significant injuries sustained’ after he was hit by the pick-up vehicle on August 3, according to Wales Online.
“At 7pm on August 3 police received an emergency call reporting that a child had been involved in a collision with a piece of farming machinery,” said Hayley Rogers, the coroner’s office for Dyfed-Powys Police.
“The child was identified as Ianto Cerwyn Sior Jenkins of Bro Waldo, Clynderwen,” Rogers continued.
“Inquiries at the scene established that Ianto was playing with his sister and cousin when a pick-up style vehicle and trailer collided with him.”
Police launched an investigation into the incident.
Paul Bennett, the acting senior coroner for Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, extended his sympathies to the family.
Ianto’s grieving mother, Chloe Picton, paid tribute to her ‘inspiration’ and ‘blue-eyed boy.’
“Ianto was my blue-eyed boy, he was inspiration to life, he was a kind little boy who was always smiling and laughing,” she expressed. “His best friend was his older sister Seren, who were always joined at the hip.
“Ianto loved going to nursery and was excited to start his first day at school in Ysgol Beca in Efailwen in September. He loved being out on the farm and going on the tractor with his daddy. Ianto and I had a very strong bond.”
The mother continued: “He was ‘Mummy’s little boy’ and was always by my side everywhere we went – now that’s been taken from me.
“No parent should lose a child and I would like people to respect our wishes, giving us space at this very difficult, heartbreaking time.”
