The tragic death of a 14-year-old boy whose remains were found near an interstate overpass has been ruled a homicide, reports say.
The body of Ryan Rogers from Florida was found on November 16 after a passerby saw his bicycle near the I-95 overpass on Central Boulevard on November 16.
Local police announced on Wednesday that the teen’s death ‘was not an accident, but a deliberate act.’
In a statement on Twitter, the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department said: “We now know that Ryan Rogers’ death was not an accident, but a deliberate act.”
The department also urged members of the public with any information to step forward.
Speaking to the Palm Beach Post, Palm Beach Gardens Police Major Paul Rogers said: “We can say with almost absolute certainly that this was not a hit-and-run incident.”
Ryan’s grieving mother, Cynthia Rogers, said in a statement: “I want to take a moment to say that the loss of Ryan is unimaginable and I never thought I would ever not see him play soccer again, or spend vacation with him or see him walk through the door or send him off to school every morning.
“His smile, his laugh and his heart is what I remember the most.”
Authorities are urging anyone with information to call investigators, as well as those who has a dashcam and was driving through the area when the incident occurred.
“There is someone in this community that has information that can assist us in identifying the person or people responsible, and bring answers to his family,” police said.
“No amount of information is too small.”
The Palm Beach Gardens Police Department, Crime Stoppers and Fire Rescue Foundation are offering an $8,000 reward for anyone who can provide information that leads to an arrest.
