A 10-year-old boy who was viciously attacked by a dog at his friend’s place has now been laid to rest by his family.
Jack Lis, 10, was playing at his friend’s house in Pentwyn, Wales, when he was attacked and mauled to death by a massive 115-pound dog that was shot seven times after the police arrived at the scene.
Following the November 8 attack, the young boy was declared dead after succumbing to extreme injuries to the neck and head.
Now, Jack’s heartbroken family laid the young boy to rest in an emotional ceremony during which songs like Family Tree, Start Over, and See You Again were played.
With tears in her eyes during the funeral, Jack’s mom, Emma Whitfield, said:
“I spent the last 10 years watching you grow and we got to start seeing you grow into an amazing man.
“My heart aches so bad that we won’t get to see you grow into that incredible man. This isn’t goodbye, this is a see you later dude.”
Addressing the mourners who have gathered at St Martin’s Church in Caerphilly, the reverend went on to encourage the devastated family and friends to honor Jack by holding onto good memories of him.
“None of us expected to be here and no one wanted to be here but let us take a moment to think of how we remember Jack,” Reverend Mark Greenway Robbins said.
“Hold onto that particular memory of him that you treasure him for and thank him for. And let’s honor him for a moment in the quiet together.
“As we remember times of tears and laughter we thank God because of the love we shared for Jack.”
Paying a tribute to the innocent 10-year-old angel was also Jack’s best friend whose message was read out during the tear-jerking service.
“Jack you went away too soon. I never got to say goodbye but I look forward to the day we meet again. Thanks for being an amazing friend, you will always be in my heart,” the friend wrote.
Our thoughts are with Jack’s family and friends during these challenging times.
