Meet 18-year-old Mikey Chanel, who was born and raised as a male, but is now pregnant. Hailing from Boston Massachusettes, today, Mikey identifies as a member of the female sex. And that’s because her journey revolved around plenty of identity crisis-related issues.

Before her birth or in her mother’s womb, medical tests confirmed Mikey as a female. However, upon delivery, doctors and the parents were shocked to find the unthinkable. Mikey was born with male reproductive organs. How could that even be possible?
While growing up, Mikey always felt out of place. It was almost as if there was something weird but she simply couldn’t put her head around it. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that she never truly felt like a boy at heart.
Teen years- the bizarre identity crisis continues
“It was very obvious to everyone around me that I was different from the very start. At 5 years old, I’d be wearing lipstick and playing with my aunt’s purses. Truly, I never really felt like a boy,” confirmed Mikey.
On the other hand, she mentioned how she never actually went through the whole ‘boy puberty’ thing either. By the age of 13, Mikey came out as gay. Sometimes, she wondered if she was transgender. It was all a very sticky situation. But the last thing on Mikey’s mind ever was turning into a boy who gets pregnant.
Boy gets pregnant amid the most bizarre circumstances
Last year, while undergoing a series of routine tests, doctors informed the teen that she had both male and female genitalia. While the male reproductive organs lay on the outside, Mikey had female reproductive organs on the inside.
“They told me I had a cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, and functional ovaries,” she exclaimed. At the same time, doctors informed her that if she wanted to get pregnant, she could. Confused as ever, Mikey couldn’t believe what was going on.
Doctors diagnosed her with a rare condition known as PMDS or Persistent Mullerian Duct Syndrome. If that scare wasn’t enough, doctors advised the teen to undergo a hysterectomy or uterus removal as her unusual condition could lead to grave complications.
Soon, Mikey learned that her male parts were infertile but her ovaries were functional. This was her only chance to get pregnant as later on in life, she wouldn’t have a uterus. Therefore, she went forward with the idea. And that’s exactly how the boy gets pregnant story began in the first place.
The transition towards female sex continues
After a series of procedures, Mikey had donor sperm injected into her eggs via a technique called ICSI. Once the eggs fertilized, doctors implanted the eggs into her. And today, she is 4 months pregnant, happier than ever.
Mikey is taking estrogen to help with the pregnancy. It wouldn’t be wrong to term the entire situation as something very unique. Female hormones as therapy are a unique and strange thing for her. But now, she’s taking them on a regular basis to help with the pregnancy.
As the transition continues, Mikey can’t believe what’s really going on. She’s taking it one step at a time.
Everything happened so quickly that it literally had her dazed and confused. It’s the most unique transformation. Moreover, Mikey hopes to continue with her female transition, after the birth of her child too.
