A missing 3-year-old boy whose mother was found with multiple gunshot wounds was found dead in an alleyway.
The Milwaukee Police Department confirmed that the remains of Major Harris were found in a container near N 33th Street and Rohr Avenue.
“With a heavy heart, I’d like to pass that we have found Major Harris, unfortunately, deceased at North 35th Street and West Rohr,” said Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Clark.
“This is an ongoing investigation. This is something that is very fluid at this time. My heart and my condolences go out to the family,” Clark added.
According to reports, Harris was last seen on October 9 only days after his mother, 25-year-old Mallery Muenzenberger, was killed.
20-year-old Jaheem Clark, a suspect in Major’s disappearance and the person of interest in Muenzenberger’s murder, took his own life on Sunday.
Muenzenberger’s family released a statement saying that the mother was a victim of domestic violence, according to Fox 6.
“We are heartbroken as we prepare to say our final goodbyes to Mallery who was taken from us in such a violent fashion,” the statement read.
“As we have been searching through her belonging’s we came across her high school senior project. How ironic that the topic she chose to present was Domestic Violence Awareness. Mallery faced her death in the hands of domestic violence in October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month.”
Major’s father, Carlton, had been helping the police to search for his son. He had previously criticized the police department of the city in the search for the toddler.
“The Milwaukee Police Department is a joke,” he said. “There’s no faith in the police department.”
The city’s police department said officers started searching for Harris as soon as they issued the Amber Alert.
“This is stuff we don’t take lightly,” Milwaukee Acting Police Chief Jeffrey Norman said, adding that the investigation was ongoing.
