A young boy tragically died after falling from the window of a 17th-story apartment.
3-year-old Lamar Roach Jr. from Chicago, Illinois, was rushed to Lurie Children’s Hospital after falling from the window of an apartment that is believed to be some 170 feet above the ground.
Unfortunately, the boy succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to the reports, the toddler likely plunged to his death after pulling the window screen inward, the local police department told DailyMail.com following the Wednesday incident.
While it is not clear who was responsible for watching over the child at the time of the incident, CBS 2 has since confirmed that the boy wasn’t alone in the apartment.
As of this writing, the authorities have not made any arrests in connection to the boy’s death and the death is being treated as accidental.
The case, however, remains under investigation by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and the Chicago Police Department.
As the social services organization previously confirmed through a spokesperson, the agency had not had any issues with the victim’s family in the past.
In the meanwhile, it was also confirmed that an autopsy of the 3-year-old will be carried out on Thursday by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Our thoughts are with Lamar’s family during these challenging times.
