A young boy tragically died after he hit his head while playing football at school in oversized trainers.
10-year-old Yasir Hussain was playing around lunchtime at Leigh Primary School in Birmingham when he accidentally hit his head on the ground or the wall.
A bump immediately formed on the side of his head and emergency services were called. But when paramedics failed to arrive, Yasir was taken home by his parent as he started to feel better.
But hours after the incident, Yasir stopped breathing and he was rushed to a hospital.
The football-made student passed away only five days later after suffering significant brain damage.
Zahira Mabine, a first-aider, told Birmingham Coroners Court that Yasir’s oversized trainers ‘could have been one of the factors’ that caused him to fall.
A coroner just concluded that his death was accidental despite his family firmly blaming the school for their child’s death.
Senior coroner Louise Hunt told Yasir’s mother Nazia Parveen: “I realise that I may not have reached a conclusion that you wanted me to, but I have reached it based on the evidence provided to me.
“I hope that after today’s hearing when the time is right that you can remember some happy memories of your son, your little boy who supported Aston Villa and wanted to be a footballer and loved to play in a group and play games with his friends.
“He had a really good set of friends and you used to read stories together. I hope these are the happy memories that you can have of Yasir.”
“Nazia, I hope you’re all right and I am so sorry this has been such a difficult process for you and give you my deepest condolences,” the coroner added.
