The grandmother of the 8-year-old boy who died in Texas ‘house of horrors’ has spoken out and shared family photos.
Kendrick Lee, 8, was found dead alongside his three starved siblings, aged 7, 10, and 15, who were abandoned by their mother and her boyfriend at a Houston, Texas, apartment complex.
After Kendrick’s decomposing body was discovered, Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the cause of death was a homicide and determined that the young boy died from blunt force trauma.
During the discovery of the abandoned children in the roach-infected apartment, the authorities came across the 8-year-old’s decomposing body and his three starved siblings. One of the kids’ siblings was reportedly not in the house at the time.
Following the gruesome discovery, the police tracked down and arrested the children’s mother, 35-year-old Gloria Williams, and her boyfriend, Brian Coulter.point 291 |
The pair was allegedly found at a library where they browsed the news in search of articles related to the discovery of Kendrick’s remains.point 118 | 1
Williams has since been charged with neglecting and starving her children, whereas her boyfriend is facing charges for fatally beating the young boy.
Now, the shocking case takes on a new update as the grandmother of one of the neglected children spoke out and made shocking allegations about Williams.
“I wish I would have known how bad of a situation those kids were in; I would have adopted all of the kids,” 71-year-old Linda Smith told DailyMail.com.
As the grandma explained, her son, Jonathan Kirklin, is the father of Williams’ 7-year-old son Ja’Veon Kirklin. Jonathan was reportedly been jailed several times in recent years and doesn’t play a role in the young boy’s life.
“All of Gloria’s kids lived with me for a short time in 2014, my son went to jail for about 6 months. I soon found out when my son was in jail and I was at work, Gloria would have different men come over to my house,” Smith told the publication.
“I don’t know what she was doing with them. As soon as I found out I confronted Gloria with it, of course she denied it. But I told her she and her kids had to leave.”
After getting kicked from Smith’s home, Gloria allegedly “disappeared” until she suddenly contacted the grandmother and requested a meeting.
“Looking back on it now, I think if I would have asked her, she would have let me adopt Ja’Veon. It was just a feeling I got,” Smith recalled.
“I’ll adopt all of them. I’m heartbroken to hear what happened to them and especially Kendrick. I regret kicking her out, I should have never done that. I’ve asked myself, ‘What else have this kids gone through with all of the guys that have been in and out of her life?’”
