The body of another missing person was reportedly found while the authorities were searching for 22-year-old van-life girl Gabby Petito.
On September 19, Petito’s lifeless body was discovered in the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming after her highly-publicized disappearance sparked a series of massive searches.
It has now also come to light that the body of another missing person, 46-year-old hiker Robert ‘Bob’ Lowery, was discovered during the search for Petito.
According to the reports, Lowery went missing in August, whereas the authorities asked the public for help in early September after their search bore no results.
It wasn’t until Petito’s case made headlines nationwide, however, that the authorities made progress in the case of Lowery’s disappearance.
“The good news about it has been Bob got pulled into a bunch of articles, so it actually drew a bunch of attention from people that I know,” Leigh Lowery, the man’s sister, said in an interview with Jackson Hole News and Guide.
“Bob is a loving dad to his 15-year-old and 12-year-old,” she added.
As the sister told NBC, the dedicated father would never stay out of touch with his kids which is why the family became very concerned when he disappeared for 37 days after embarking on a journey to explore the national park before starting his new job.
Lowery was eventually found in the same forest as Petito after two residents stepped forward and offered information related to the dad’s disappearance.
According to the witnesses, the man was spotted on the Black Canyon Trail on August 20. After searching the challenging trails with the help of dogs and volunteers, search teams came across what appears to be Lowery’s body in the Bridger-Teton National Forest just off a steep slope.
As of this writing, the authorities have yet to confirm the deceased man’s identity and his cause of death.
