President Joe Biden is all set to initiate a mega anti-corruption task force that will help address the issues of illegal immigration.
Reports confirmed how the US president intends on spending a whopping $4 billion to combat corruption in the Northern Triangle. Moreover, this is expected to help take into consideration the issues of mass migration where migrants keep entering into the US from the Central American sub-continent. This piece of information was confirmed by a leading US official on Thursday.
Ricardo Zuniga who is the Special Envoy that overlooks the Triangle Nations recently explained to reporters how this particular task force works and how it assists all the local prosecutors in managing their corruption while contributing to their human rights abuses simultaneously too.
Zuniga also went on to add how governance that addresses corruption is at the forefront of focus for the current Biden administration.
Over the year, the number of illegal immigration cases has vastly increased towards the end of the US southern border. News reports confirmed how most of the migrants belong to Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala regions.
Reporters were also briefed about how the White House plans on releasing a proposal soon that disperses an estimated value of $4 billion over a time span of 4 years. This plan will focus on promoting governance as well as transparency, with greater security and the nation’s economic development too.
Just last week, President Joe Biden had allotted the task of the complex and ever-increasing immigration crisis to vice president Kamala Harris. Therefore, local media outlets spoke about how she will be traveling to Mexico soon with no clear date being mentioned.
In addition, the US plans on imposing sanctions on all those officials from the Central American region who have been involved in the crime of corruption. The administration will go ahead and bar their travel into the country while assessing their respective financial penalties too.
