DC Comics has been adding a number of LGBTQ+ characters in recent years, and now Batman’s sidekick is joining their ranks.

In the new installment of ‘Batman: Urban Legends,’ Robin agrees to go on a date with a man named Bernard Dowd after he rescued him.

Many fans welcomed the huge revelation and said they have already suspected Robin may be gay or bisexual for years.

After the rescue, Tim goes to Bernard’s apartment and prepares himself before ringing the door, saying: “It’s OK, Tim. You got this.”

He continues: “I’m really glad you got home okay. I was relieved. And I’ve been doing a lot of thinking, about that night. And I — I don’t know what it meant to me. Not yet. But I’d like to figure it out.”

Bernard then responds: “I was hoping you would.

“Tim Drake … do you want to go on a date with me?”

The superhero then says: “Yeah… Yeah, I think I want that.”

A third added: “Crazy thing, I saw Tim DRAKE coming out, years ago.. congrats to DC for making it a reality.”

In March, Marvel also introduced their first openly-gay Captain America character Aaron Fischer.

Creator Aaron Trujillo told Entertainment Weekly at that time: “Aaron is inspired by heroes of the queer community: activists, leaders, and everyday folks pushing for a better life. He stands for the oppressed, and the forgotten.
