A 19-month-old baby girl has tragically died after her own parents chose to neglect her and instead focus on playing video games all night.
Authorities found young Kiera Conroy’s lifeless body inside her cot after reports confirmed how her own parents didn’t give her the care and attention she needed as a young child.
Instead, her dad opted to stay up and watch television and play video games, forgetting about his little baby girl who lay alone in her room’s cot.
Kiera’s father went on admitting to the crime of neglect, explaining how he was too focused on having a good time with his ‘all nighter’ which comprised of plenty of binge-watching television and video gaming too. Both of her parents left the baby alone and decided to go out, leaving her in a sleeping state.
While the incident took place a few years back, at that time, authorities declared the child’s death as unexplained. But years later, after the investigation regarding the case came forward, it was soon revealed how the baby died from neglect.
Michael Conroy who is the deceased father explained to Airdrie Sheriff Court recently how he knew exactly what he was doing when leaving his child alone. Therefore, he pleaded guilty to the horrendous crime, being slapped with charges relating to willingly causing harm and ill-treatment to his child.
Initially, the mother who was identified as Kirsty Boyle faced similar charges to the father but the court soon accepted her not guilty plea.
The charges described the events that took place three days before the young child’s death. And that included how the father failed to prove his daughter with adequate fluids and foods while leaving her all alone as well as unattended for excessively long periods of time.
