A 6-month-old baby girl tragically passed away after a drunk woman crashed into her family’s car.
Little Eva Maria Nichifor from Wales, UK, was just six months old when her life came to an abrupt end as 23-year-old Lucy Dyer, a mother-of-one, plowed into Eva’s parents’ car.
According to the reports, the accident took place at a 20 mph zone in Llanelli where Dyer, whose blood alcohol level was above the legal limit for driving, crashed into the family’s vehicle.
Though the infant was immediately rushed to the hospital, Eva succumbed to her brain stem injury on the following day.
Following the devastating accident and Dyer’s arrest, little Eva’s parents spoke out and opened up about the ordeal they’ve been going through after the loss of their precious baby.
“We came to this country to ensure a better life for my family and it ended up tearing it apart. In the house where we live we can’t see it without thinking of little Eva,” parents Florin and Carmen expressed in a victim impact statement.
“Everywhere we look there are memories of her. The house is empty without her. We want justice for our baby because she was taken away too soon.”
The parents’ statement comes shortly after the couple spoke out and branded their little angel “a gift from God” who was taken from them so soon.
“We are distraught by our loss. Eva Maria, only six months old, will be missed by us all. She was our miracle, our perfect baby girl, a gift from God. She will always be in our hearts,” Carmen and Florin said.
“We would like to thank everyone for their support at this horrific time. It has meant so much to the whole family. We would now like time to grieve and would ask to be given privacy in which to do so.”
Dyer was reportedly sentenced to five weeks in prison for causing the deadly car crash.
Our thoughts are with Eva’s family during these challenging times.
