A 7-month-old baby tragically passed away in Arizona recently after his mother left him alone in a hot vehicle for nearly two whole hours.
According to Mesa Police Department, the mother was out and about shopping as her baby lay inside the 100F vehicle. Paramedics were called to the scene after the mum returned and saw that her child was unresponsive. Screaming frantically for help, the mum didn’t know what to do as this was not the scene she expected to come back to.
Seated innocently in his baby chair, the toddler was retrieved by the paramedics’ staff who claim he had stopped breathing due to the blazing hot conditions inside.
Despite the car standing in a shaded area, the scorching weather and lack of exhaust caused temperatures in the car to rise to huge extremes. And in the end, it was a tragic scene for many to witness outside a famous shopping mall’s parking lot.
The young boy was just 7 months old, explained investigators who continue to look after the case. They also spoke about how paramedics and police arrived after two hours because that’s when the mother noticed that her child was not breathing.
Meanwhile, local reports identified the exact location of the parked vehicle as Mesa’s Superstition Springs Center with a car standing near JC Penney.
The extreme heat in the car would be close to 100F if not more, predicted experts present at the scene. But the fact that the vehicle’s engine, as well as AC, was switched off meant that the temperatures would greatly escalate to new highs.
Upon the arrival of the paramedics’ squad, the health experts quickly noticed how the baby was not breathing or responding. On that note, they made desperate life-saving attempts to resuscitate the child but it was all in vain. Soon, the baby was rushed to a nearby local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
As investigations into the tragic case continue, authorities claim that currently, no charges have been filed against the mother.
