The Astroworld music festival was definitely one event that many fans paid a huge price for, as the event ended in a massive tragedy that took away eight lives while wounding dozens more.
Now, heartbreaking details from the event are being revealed by the media crew of ABC13 who happened to be stationed near the exact location where the stampede took place.
Just before the time for the gates to open, the event drew a massive crowd where fans could be seen smiling near the perimeter of Houston’s NRG Park. Moreover, some fans just couldn’t even wait to get in.
But the chaos certainly did not end with the breach of the entrance as that was just the start of the horror that was about to take place at the highly overcrowded event.
So many fans were trampled to the ground as hundreds more rushed towards the event’s perimeter during the afternoon hours of Friday.
Once they got inside, they could be seen climbing upon portable toilets while hardworking security personnel tried their level best to contain the mega crowds.
Soon, event-goers erupted into a massive mad rush at the venue’s entrance, stepping upon one another as they started to make their way inside.
One reporter who was stationed at the entrance spoke about how security struggled to control the anxious fans. Many were trampled but the exact number was not clear. Moreover, none of the injuries appeared to be severe.
The crowd even disregarded metal detectors and other checkpoints too, despite members of the Houston police who tried to control the unmanageable crowd. Clearly, things were so poorly managed from the start, let alone rumors about what happened during Travis Scott’s performance where eight people died and hundreds more were wounded.
What are your thoughts on the stampede at Astroworld’s fest entry? Do you think the management is to blame for the horror that unfolded or not?
