To help give you an in-depth look as to what we really mean, well, she only spent 55 minutes with loved ones on Christmas. And that’s because she needed to be tube-fed her festive meal.
Opening up about her condition, the 21-year-old spoke about the great troubles of anorexia hair loss, and other grave signs and symptoms. “I was only 15 when it all began,” she explains. And then she spoke about how her past trauma, as well as body confidence issues, led to it all.
When everything else fell out of control, she felt the need to gain authority and dictate what did and didn’t enter her mouth.
“It was the darkest time of my life”
Referring to it as the darkest time of her life, Emily opens up about this was truly a really dark condition in her lifetime. Moreover, nothing else compares to the hardships of her state.
From being admitted to a specialist eating unit to hearing people’s criticism, it wasn’t an easy affair. In the same way, she also spoke about how life wasn’t worth living anymore. Yes, that’s how much it affected her physically and mentally.
“I simply wouldn’t eat and that’s why they fed me through a tube.” In the same way, the 21-year-old explained how they took away all of her possessions, just to protect her from herself.
It all came down to the point of a mental breakdown too. Horrifying would be an understatement in this case. But wait, what about the changes to your body.
Anorexia hair loss in the spotlight
While everyone else felt like they were saving her life, Emily didn’t. Moreover, she spoke about how she felt people were only doing this to make her fat. Before it all took a toll on her, she lived her best life. She was a bright young woman who even got into the university of her choice.
Soon, people began questioning her as the hair loss got severe. Her bones started sticking out and it was just not so pretty anymore. Some friends went as far as saying how scared they felt when looking at her.
The constant noise of ‘just eat’ wasn’t something that she could wrap her head around. With time, she began to mentally accept what was going on. And while she is doing fine now, the battle to stay strong continues.
