Two American teens have been sentenced to life in prison after they brutally murdered a cop in Italy.
According to local media outlets, the duo took part in the tragic act while they were on vacation in Rome. And that’s when they made grave attempts to purchase cocaine. Instead, they were given a crushed medicinal tablet, which enraged them with fury.
Since their drug deal had gone horribly wrong, they called a Roman cop by stabbing him 11 times, confirmed reports.
Both students are American and hail from California. They received their sentencing yesterday, where the court announced them to a lifetime in prison at the Roman jail.
The accused were identified as 21-year-old Finnegan Elder and 20-year-old Gabriel Natale Hijorth who were both charged for the death of Carabiniere Vice Brigadier Mario Cerciello Rega, who was aged 35 years.
Among their other crimes, the court announced how the duo was also involved in extortion as well as stealing a backpack too. In addition, they demanded cash in return for the backpack, the court announced.
On the other hand, the jurors recently announced how the duo was also guilty of possessing a knife that they used to fatally stab the Roman police officer.
The trial jury comprised of a total of six members and the case was being guided by two judges.
The jury reportedly deliberated for nearly ten hours, right before they reached their final verdict yesterday.The killing is reported to have taken place during the early morning hours of July 26th, in the year 2019. This was right after the teenagers failed to purchase their cocaine via an agent that tried to connect them to a dealer near Rome’s nightlife district.
