Finding out the truth about your orientation is a pretty investing process.
A lot of people struggle with answering one question: Am I gay, normal, or something in between? And it’s almost as if the ordeal sucks the life out of them.
Unsurprisingly, we all live in a society that’s full of haters, discriminators, and judgmental believers. And that’s exactly what makes sexuality such a taboo notion, to begin with.
Most of us, if not all, are expected to fall into the category, or shall we say, the stereotype of being straight. And in case you’re gay or lie somewhere in between, things get messy.
Keeping all of that aside, you are your best judge. And only you can decide what your true orientation is.
Sex dreams- do they carry any significance?
They say it always starts with a dream. But how true is this saying? Can my sex dreams actually configure if I’m a lesbian?
While you may have grown up thinking you’re straight, life can have other plans. And you slowly begin to realize this, after hitting puberty. That’s because you enter a world that’s surrounded by sex dreams, sexual fantasies, and emotions of intense attraction. Above all, you develop a liking for people of the same gender. And it happens.
With that being said, none of the above-mentioned ordeals really confirm your orientation. On most occasions, you don’t fall in love with someone you’re sexually inclined to and vice versa. There are exceptions of course.
Can one test tell it all?
Unfortunately, there’s not one single test that confirms your orientation. And yes, not even Buzzfeed can answer your questions! And just in case there was, what qualification does anyone have to confirm you’re true sexual orientation?
Every single person on the face of the planet is unique. The same goes for straight, bisexual, or gay individuals.
Similarly, there’s not one category that defines who you are. You don’t need to tick all the boxes to confirm your orientation. Experts term that as absurd and rightly so.
Sexuality has to do with your identity. It’s not some kind of job application that you identify with. You relate to an identity that best defines who you are, not what others believe.
How do you really know?
Believe it or not, there’s not one single way of actually figuring out your orientation. With that being said, there are a number of possibilities worth exploring.
Take the time out and feel what you need to feel. Likewise, don’t bottle up your emotions. And that’s because if you ignore your feelings now, you’ll never be able to address them in the future.
Every now and then, people associate themselves with a particular stigma. They feel as if they need to live up to the standards set by others. And the effects are devastating. You can’t feel straight if you’re not, just like you can’t feel bisexual.
Moreover, if you feel stuck, take out some time and learn what the different orientations mean. Do they resonate with your inner soul? If yes, pay heed to that true calling.
Am I gay? Can my assumptions be wrong?
While that may be a great question, we’re sad to admit that there is no absolute answer.
Without a doubt, many people mix up or confuse their feelings. And that’s totally fine. You don’t need to assume you’re a lesbian one day and straight the next. It doesn’t work like that. The feeling is natural and it comes and goes naturally. Once you understand this phenomenon, things get a whole lot easier.
Be free to admit that, ‘yes I thought I was gay but now, I feel more comfortable as someone that’s straight.’ It can work the other way around too.
Remember, your orientation can change over time, but that should never belittle you in any manner. Meanwhile, let nature take its course and trust the process, at whatever curve ball life throws towards you.
