Ahmaud Arbery’s killers are facing life in prison after all three of them were found guilty of murdering the innocent jogger.
Arbery, a 25-year-old Black man, was shot and killed by three white men last year while jogging through a neighborhood near Glynn County, Georgia.
Following the unarmed young man’s premature death, three men were arrested and charged with murder. These three individuals include 67-year-old Gregory McMichael, 35-year-old Travis McMichael, Gregory’s son, and 52-year-old William Bryan, a neighbor of the McMichael family.
Now, more than a year after the shocking murder, all three men have been found guilty of murder and are facing a minimum sentence of life in prison.
According to the reports, Travis McMichael, who confronted and shot the jogger together with his father, was found guilty of all charges including four counts of felony murder, one count of malice murder, two counts of aggravated assault, one count of criminal attempt to commit a felony, and one count of false imprisonment.point 606 | 1
Meanwhile, the gunman’s father, Gregory McMichael, was similarly found guilty of nearly all counts except for one count of malice murder.
As for the father and son’s neighbor, William Bryan, the man was found guilty of three counts of felony murder, one count of aggravated assault, one count of criminal attempt to commit a felony, and one count of false imprisonment.
As the verdict was announced, the three murderers appeared rather emotionless, whereas Arbery’s father, Marcus, was kicked out of the courtroom after yelling: “long time coming!”
Following the verdict, the three convicted men face a minimum sentence of life in prison. The date of their sentencing is yet to be determined.
“To hear that the accused murderers were actually found guilty, I mean, that was huge. We finally got the justice for Ahmaud that he deserved back in 2020,” Arbery’s mom, Wanda Cooper-Jones, said after the three men were finally found guilty of murder.
