A two-year-old boy who was reported missing after his mother, 20, was found dead in their apartment has been found in the mouth of an alligator.
Taylen Mosley vanished after his mother, Pashun Jefferey, was stabbed in their home on Thursday. Police searched for the youngster but he was found in the jaws of the reptile ten miles away from their home.
St. Petersburg police Chief Anthony Holloway said officers were searching the area of Dell Holmes Park when they noticed the alligator in Lake Maggiore with ‘an object in its mouth.’
“This evening, the body of missing two-year-old Taylen Mosley was found in Lake Maggiore,” St. Petersburg Police Department wrote on Facebook.
“Tonight, Chief Holloway confirmed the bad news, ‘It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that we found the body of Taylen Mosley. My condolences to his family.’”
It added: “The child had been missing since his 20- year-old mother, Pashun Jeffery, was found stabbed to death in her St. Petersburg apartment Thursday afternoon, March 30th.”
According to reports, the boy’s 21-year-old father, Thomas Mosley, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, for the death of Jeffrerey and Taylen.
The New York Post reported that he had immediately been named a person of interest after he checked himself into a hospital with ‘cuts to his hands and his arms.’
Jefferey and her son had just moved into the apartment and the toddler had just celebrated his second birthday before he was found lifeless.
“The detectives and officers of the St. Petersburg Police Department worked tirelessly on this case. The Department would like to thank all of the agencies that assisted in this investigation,” the Facebook post added.
