Tragic and heartbreaking news has gone on to confirm the death of at least 40 passengers after two buses collided in Senegal.
Sources from local media outlets explained how the incident occurred in Kaffrine which happens to be at the heart of the African nation. Moreover, authorities revealed how the crash also left 85 more people injured along the way.
The death toll is expected to rise as many of those injured were shifted to a nearby local media facility after sustaining the most critical injuries.
The country’s authorities claim a rescue and recovery mission had begun in no time after the terrifying news broke out. They also mentioned how road accidents are quite common in this country but this has to be one of the worst ones out there in terms of the high death toll.
Now, viral images from the haunting accident are taking social media by storm where one white-colored bus was pictured with a completely damaged front part. Similarly, blood stains were seen covering the seats, which goes to show how intense that entire incident turned out to be.
Personal items were also seen displaced across the board.
As investigations into the accident continue, sources claim that it appears that the bus didn’t see the other vehicle due to poor visibility and that could be one reason why they both collided.
But still, nothing can be confirmed as of this moment as it’s too soon. A lot of the crashes that do occur in this part of the world have to do with poor driving skills, poor roads, or simply because of poor vehicles in use.
The government of Senegal has expressed its heartbreak over the incident and declared a period of mourning for three days. During this time, the country’s flag would be flown at half mast in remembrance of those who lost their lives in this tragedy.
