Iran has reportedly opted to scrap its morality police units after 11 weeks of continuous and widespread protests across the nation.
According to reports from the country’s local media outlets, the Parliament has made this groundbreaking decision that many feel was a long time coming.
But the fact that it occurred after hundreds were killed in the past few weeks after a young woman was brutally tortured to death for not wearing a headscarf is the most tragic part of this whole story, sources revealed.
In a shocking move, the government is even considering removing the controversial headscarf law, at the same time. And that could be a win-win situation for so many that have been calling the government’s rules and regulations out for so long.
Many questions have been raised against the mandatory hijab law for obvious reasons. And leaders around the globe including US President Biden were part of those who felt that such laws went against people’s rights to freedom.
Mahsa Amini was reportedly subjected to great torture after being taken into police custody for refusing to wear a hijab that covered her head. But when confronted by the authorities over what really went on, they refused to tell the truth.
Instead, they mentioned her cause of death was a heart attack which the family claims to be a massive lie to disguise their ruthless behavior.
This is what sparked massive unrest and outrage around the globe, where so many people took part in strikes and demonstrations against the country’s leadership who stayed quiet instead of bringing justice to the family.
With the country’s strict female dress code undergoing revision, there is finally some hope for democracy that many have been advocating for years.
